6 Reasons to Go Into HVAC Industry

1) Learn A Career In Less Than A Year

The traditional college path of a two to four-year school is losing steam. College students choose a program of study with no guarantee of employment and a variety of classes that carry no value into their future careers. In contrast, vocational programs are rigid, provide different modalities of learning and open a pathway to employment in the future. Take Electrical Training Center’s 6071 – HVAC/R Program which takes 5 to 7 months to complete. It is an intensive vocational program with hands on training that provides the knowledge and skills to start a career in the HVAC/R industry in less than a year.

2) A Bright Outlook for the Future

When deciding what career to study, job outlook is vital for students to understand. An industry that is booming one second, could trend downward. According to ONET sponsored by the US Department of Labor, the HVAC/R industry is trending upward. From 2016 to 2026, projected growth is about 15% which is “much faster than average”. This means the supply of jobs will be there and the demand for a skilled workforce is needed.

3) Made in the U.S.A

Skilled labor is home grown and jobs that require hands on work such as an HVAC/R technician have less of a chance of being outsourced due to technology or international competition.

Training from 6071-HVAC/R program will give the student the knowledge and skills to work successfully in the HVAC/R industry. Rather than sit behind a desk, HVAC/R technicians are out in the field working indoors and outdoors on a daily basis. This is an occupation that requires workers use their hands, work inside and outside, problem solve and interact with customers on a daily basis.

4) No Desk Needed

HVAC/R technicians and in general skilled trades allow the individual to work their way up in the industry. For example, HVAC/R technicians may perform periodic maintenance on heating and ac equipment. As you gain more experience, a technician will move into troubleshooting and diagnosing as your knowledge of equipment in the field becomes stronger.

5) An Expert Was Once A Beginner

Cold Day in the winter? Hot Humid Day in the Summer?

What happens if your heating system breaks or the

central air unit you just purchased breaks down?

Who are you going to call? A HVAC/R technician

will provide the services to fix these common

problems and provide comfort to customers during

different seasons. Ventilation technicians provide

clean air in houses and businesses. In short, an

HVAC/R technician provides solutions to problems

that dictate the comfort of individuals and families.

6071 – HVAC/R Program at Electrical Training Center

Why should I take this?

HVAC School—
Is It Worth It?

Contractors require prospective employees be trained in their trade, so when they are on the job, minimal qualifications to perform the job are met.

6071 – HVAC/R Program runs from five to seven months compared to college programs which take two to four years to complete.

Lecture, homework and then test, sound familiar? Vocational programs provide hands on training, in addition to theory to allow students with different learning styles to thrive.

Evening programs allow students who work in the day to complete an education at a slower pace.

You are an investment to a contractor when they hire you. With formal training comes less of a need for the organization to teach you the basic skills needed to perform the job.

Electrical Training Center’s network of contactors and required placement assistance lays out the path to start a career in the HVAC/R industry. Our contractors hire our students because they know the quality of education being provided.

We are the premier electrical, HVAC, & Green Technology training facility on Long Island. Our purpose is to educate all workers in the electrical & HVAC industry.
